The challenge

Datamaran helps big companies assess ESG risks, opportunities and impacts through multiple Sustainability Experts. However, comparing reviewer assessments made the review process really slow and fragmented.

  • Multiple reviewer assessments spread across separate views.
  • Time-consuming comparison of expert feedback.
  • Limited scalability.
  • Deliver a scalable solution within a 15-day Agile sprint (1 month if we include the discovery phase).

The solution

A unified multi-reviewer workspace brought every assessment into a single view, allowing owners to compare Sustainability expert opinions more efficiently while supporting unlimited reviewers and faster validation.

  • Merged multiple review screens into one unified workspace.
  • Designed a scalable interface supporting unlimited reviewers.
  • Introduced smart recommendations based on reviewer averages to accelerate validation.
  • Reduced navigation while simplifying comparison workflows.

Project Goals

User experience

Enable assessment owners to compare multiple reviewer assessments quickly within a single workflow.

Business impact

Increase review efficiency by reducing navigation time and supporting faster ESG assessment validation.

Value increment

Deliver a scalable solution that supports enterprise customers with unlimited reviewers while providing meaningful suggested values.

Process

The project combined several UX explorations, Customer success and stakeholder collaboration and iterative design to simplify complex review workflows while meeting strict development constraints.

  • Reviewed the existing assessment workflow.
  • Identified comparison pain points.
  • Explored scalable interaction patterns.
  • Collaborated with Product, Engineering and Market Leaders.
  • Designed high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Validated default recommendation strategies with Market Leaders and customer feedback.
  • Iterated through stakeholder feedback.

Design solution

Previously, reviewer assessments were isolated. To compare them, owners had to duplicate IROs or rely on external tools and manual workflows.

Next steps

Future iterations should continue validating collaborative workflows while introducing more intelligent decision support.

  • Validate with enterprise customers.
  • Explore additional comparison tools.
  • Improve recommendation logic.
  • Monitor adoption and review efficiency.

Learnings

User experience

Keeping users within a single workspace dramatically reduced cognitive load and made reviewer comparison significantly faster.

Business impact

Designing for scalability from the outset enabled the feature to support enterprise customers without increasing interface complexity.

Value increment

Balancing customer expectations with business strategy led to smart recommendations based on reviewer averages, accelerating validation.
